The Macroplata name means "giant plate". This dinosaur has two major species groups which are M. tenuiceps and M. longirostris.What is unique about this organism is the fact that it a marine reptile from the jurassic period. General trails include having a short neck ,an elongated head , long and powerful jaws carried many sharp, conical teeth which aid in a carnivore diet. Pliosaurs range from 4 to 15 meters in length. Their prey may have included fish, ichthyosaurs and other plesiosaurs.

Also other unique traits of this dinosaur is its shoulder bones which are fairly large which in turn aid in providing a powerful forward stroke for fast swimming. Evidence of a progresive change towars limbs that are paddle like are found in the archaeological record.The hind limbs showed more dervied traits indicating a possible difference in the use of the limbs.

I don't watch tons of television like I use to in high school and because I have less time I'm selective of what worth while for me to watch and what captures my interest. Here's a list of some of the shows that I'm enjoying at the moment:

1. Pretty Little Liars

Where and when: ABC on Tuesdays at 8pm

My reasons: I love mysteries, its a decently written teen drama, easy watching show, pretty outfits, awesome set and a good story plot.

2. Victorian Pharmacy

Description :Victorian Pharmacy is a historical documentary TV series in four parts, first shown on BBC Two in July 2010. It was made for the BBC by independent production company Lion Television. It was filmed at Blists Hill Victorian Town in Shropshire.^[1] It is a historical documentary that looks at life in the 19th Century and how people attempted to cure common ailments. Since some of the ingredients of Victorian remedies are now either illegal or known to be dangerous, Nick Barber often uses his modern pharmaceutical knowledge to produce similar products without those ingredients. My reasons: I love learing about the past and how things were done and the progression in medicine and health plus I love the Victorian Era. Very informative, interesing task and things that were made.Overall very amusing.

Description: Time Team is a British television series shown on Channel 4 since 1994. Created by Tim Taylor and presented by actor Tony Robinson, it features a team of specialists carrying out an archaeological dig in three days, with Robinson explaining the process in layman’s terms. My reasons: If your into archaeology or did a course on archaeology it a good representation of the work that you do in the field. Warning : Alot of dull digging scenes.

4. The Nature of Things

Where and when: CBC Sunday at 11 am
Description : Its about our world from all things in nature , all types of research and how we as humans affect our world for the positive and the negative. Its informative, beautifully films and compelling for all audiences.
My reasons: I love learning something new and this show talks about the things I care about such as the environment, health, industry, animals , plants , fungi, ect.

5. The Killing

Where and when: AMC on Sunday 10pm
Description :The Killing ties together three distinct stories around a single murder including the detectives assigned to the case, the victim's grieving family, and the suspects. Set in Seattle, the story also explores local politics as it follows politicians connected to the case. As the series unfolds, it becomes clear that there are no accidents; everyone has a secret, and while the characters think they've moved on, their past isn't done with them. My reasons: A mature murder mystery that is well written, addictive and keeps on twisting and turning from one aspect to the next.

6. The Secret Life of an American Teenager

Where and when: ABC on Mondays at 8pm
Description: Teenager drama with issues of sex, pregnancy, and relationships.
My reasons: Simplicity and to help in the aid of limiting boredom. Its not a great show, it is very unrealistic and not greatly written but a great time waster and I had many laughs.

7. The Big Bang Theory

Where and when: CTV on Thursday at 8 or reruns at 7:30 on weekdays
Description : Leonard and Sheldon are brilliant physicists, the kind of "beautiful minds" that understand how the universe works. But none of that genius helps them interact with people, especially women. All this begins to change when a free-spirited beauty named Penny moves in next door. Sheldon, Leonard's roommate, is quite content spending his nights playing Klingon Boggle with their socially dysfunctional friends, fellow CalTech scientists Wolowitz and Koothrappali. 9. How I Met Your Mother

Where and when : City TV on Thursday at 8pm
Description : Ted searches for the woman of his dreams in New York City with the help of his four best friends.
My reasons: Great humor, plots and characters. The 2000s replacement of Friends but better characters.

10. The Vampire Dairies

Where and when : CW on Thursday at 8pm

Dinosaur of the Month- Velociraptor mongoliensis

Dinosaur Name: Velociraptor mongoliensis

Order, Suborder, Family: Sauropsida, Dinosauria, Dromaeosauridae

Name Means: "swift predator," which refers to its ability to run after prey

Time Period: ate Cretaceous, 84-80 million years ago

Location: China, Mongolia, former Soviet Union

Length: up to 46 feet

Velociraptor mongoliensis was a feathered dinosaur due to a forelimb fossil discovered in Mongolia that showed quill knobs like those found in many modern birds.

The plumage of feahters may have been used for mating or to help regulate body temperature.The feathers might also have helped females protect their eggs.

Velociraptor had hollow bones, tended nests of eggs, and probably behaved in similar ways as birds.
Despite their birdlike plumage these dinosaurs were not fliers.

What's interesting about this dinosaur is that it is prehaps the one of the more intelligent dinosaurs becasue of it large brain size in comparision to body size. Also this dinosaur walked upridht on two legs and reached speeds of 24 miles per hour.

"When they caught up to prey, these predators likely brought them down quickly with a long, 3.5-inch (9-centimeter) retractable claw on each foot and a mouth full of sharp teeth. Velociraptor is known to have preyed on herbivores such as Protoceratops. Both skeletons were found intact.

The Velociraptor lived in a desert-like environment that had some streams, trees, and shrubs.Found in the Gobi Desert which is located in Mongolia and northern China.

As pack hunters, the Velociraptor may have had some social structure within their pack similar to other animal species that hunt in packs.

Like all dinosaurs, baby Velociraptors hatched from eggs. Fossilized skulls indicate that young Velociraptors had proportionally shorter snouts and bigger eyes than the adults. This indicates that the babies were fed and looked after by the adults for some period after hatching. (Contrast this to baby alligators, which look like tiny adults when they hatch, and receive no parental care.)

Scientists in Alberta have discovered the largest dinosaur bonebed ever documented — along with evidence of massive carnage — near Hilda, 50 kilometres north of Medicine Hat.
The find covers an area of about 2.3 square kilometres and contains thousands of bones from the plant-eating dinosaur Centrosaurus apertus, according to New Perspectives On Horned Dinosaurs, a book published this month by Indiana University Press.

Bonebeds containing centrosaurus, a type of horned dinosaur distantly related to the Triceratops, have been documented in Alberta since the early 1980s, providing the first evidence that some dinosaurs lived in herds.
However, officials at the Royal Tyrrell Museum say the Hilda site provides the first solid evidence that some horned dinosaur herds were much larger than previously thought, with numbers comfortably in the high hundreds to low thousands.

"Data from this mega bonebed provide pretty clear evidence that these and other dinosaurs were routinely wiped out by catastrophic tropical storms that flooded what was once a coastal lowland here in Alberta, 76 million years ago," said David Eberth, a senior research scientist at the museum, the lead author on the study and one of the book's three editors.

Rather than picturing the animals as drowning while crossing a river — a classic scenario that has been used to explain bonebed occurrences at many sites in Alberta — the research team interpreted the vast coastal landscape as being submerged during tropical storms or hurricanes.

With no high ground to escape to, most of the members of the herd drowned in the rising coastal waters. Carcasses were deposited in clumps across kilometres of ancient landscape as floodwaters receded.
"It's unlikely that these animals could tread water for very long, so the scale of the carnage must have been breathtaking," said Eberth. "The evidence suggests that after the flood, dinosaur scavengers trampled and smashed bones in their attempt to feast on the rotting remains."

The Hilda mega bonebed also helps explain why dinosaurs are so abundant in the badlands of Western Canada.
"Not only can we now explain why these kinds of horned dinosaurs are preserved in such great abundance here, but the tropical storm model also explains why there are so many kinds of dinosaurs preserved in the rocks at Dinosaur Provincial Park, the Drumheller area and even Grande Prairie, and why they are often found preserved so exquisitely," Eberth said.

According to the team, coastal plain floods like those that afflict modern Bangladesh occur on a geographic scale that is so vast that they often kill large varieties and numbers of the larger terrestrial animals, regardless of whether they lived solitary lives or spent their time in large herds.

They said that because of their size and the scale of the flooding, dinosaurs could not escape the coastal floodwaters and would have been killed in large numbers.

In contrast, fish, small reptiles, mammals and birds may have been able to escape such seasonal catastrophes by retreating to quiet water areas, the safety of trees and burrows or simply by flying away.

Dinosaur of the Month- Spinosaurus aegyptiacus

Spinosaurus aegyptiacus

Spinosaurus names means "spine lizard" and is 55 feet(16 meters) long and weighs 12 tons. This dinsosaur is known as being the largest predatory dinosaur. The Spinosurus lived during the Cretaceous period in Egypt.This dinosaur was first discover in 1912 by Ernst Stromer in which the orginal finding was believed to be a subadult yet had been distroyed in World War 2 and all that exist from that dig are detail drawing and descriptions.

Unique characteristics is the fact that this dinsoaur is a theropod in which it stood and walk on two legs maing them a bipedal dinosaur.

This dinsoaur is believe to live on fish and have behaviour similar to bears and crocodiles when hunting there prey. Interesting fact is how the Spinosaurus aegyptiacus nosils are turned up similar to crocodiles which is prefect in marine environments like rivers. And these dinosaurs lack stereoscopic vision.

Communicating

Polar bears use a combination of body language and vocalizations to communicate.

Head wagging from side to side often occurs when polar bears want to play. Adult bears initiate play—which is actually ritualized fighting or mock battling—by standing on their hind legs, chin lowered to their chests, and front paws hanging by their sides

Nose-to-nose greetings are the way that a bear asks another bear for something, such as food. The guest bear will approach slowly, circle around a carcass, and then meekly touch the other bear’s nose. Bears who use proper manners are often allowed to share a kill.

Chuffing sounds are a response to stress, often heard when a mother bear is worried for her cubs’ safety. Mother bears scold cubs with a low growl or soft cuff. When a male approaches a female with cubs, she rushes toward him with her head lowered.

Breeding: Leverets born June thru July. Usually there are 4-8 in a litter. They are fully furred and have their eyes open.
Found in Canada and Greenland in forested or low land areas and live in groups for projection.The fur colour is a mechanism to hide from predators.
Their diet includes willow,leaves, shoots, bark and roots - and grasses, flowers, saxifrage and crowberry.

Musk-oxen eat roots, mosses, and lichens they use their hooves to dig through snow to graze on these plants and in the summer they eat grasses and flowers
The musk-oxen is well adapted to the artic environment and has live in the cold region for thousands of years.
The outer hairs, called guard hairs, cover a second, shorter undercoat that provides additional insulation in winter.
Female musk-oxen carry their calves during an eight-month pregnancy, but after birth there is little time to waste. The infants are able to keep up with their mothers and the rest of the herd within a few hours.
Herds use cooperation to deal with predation by wolves or dogs. When threatened, they "circle the wagons" and array themselves with their young in the middle and their sharp horns facing outward toward their foes. A cornered musk-ox can be a fearsome enemy, charging with its massive bulk and attempting to use its horns to deadly effect.

The Six Items of Clothing Challenge

So today I was looking at the very resourceful site called Smart Cookies which gives interesting articles and advice about finances from reducing debt, spending habits, and saving money for vacations, large investments items and retirement. Considering that Christmas season is over and a new year has began I feel its always a good idea to make financial plans and goals and I'm probably not the only one. I've learn that the best way to handle and organize your finances is planning ahead and having goals. For me this year it is to save money to reduce my education debt and save for future years of schooling while at the same time still buying occasionally something that I want. Sometimes I feel that when your working to reduce the debt or save for future it doesn't feel like you getting anywhere hence I will reward my self my having the side goal of saving for a piece of clothing , a cool gadget ,etc to act as a physical reminder that i have reach a goal and acts as an reflection of how well I'm balancing my saving for both debt and savings.

So as I read the article "The Six Items of Clothing Challenge" I thought about the things I need for my closet and how many items I want and when to consider purchasing them. Hence I created my own lists consisting of 10 items that I want for the whole years and while buy gradually at some point in the year.

Dinosaur of the Month-Dimorphodon marconyx

The dinosaur for this month is Dimorphodon marconyx.
This dinosaur was first discovered in 1828 by Mary Anning. The name Dimorphodon refers to ‘two-form tooth’ while the species name species macronyx refers to the large claws on the forelimbs. This particular dinosaur had a large head and pointed teeth. Dimorphodon marconyz is found primarily in Lyme Regis, Dorset, UK in which the site dates back to Lower Jurassic Period - 200 million years ago. Most of the fossils found at this site are from marine reptiles of the Lower Jurassic Period.

General Biology
Due to the similarity to the dinosaurs that are pterosaurs scientist presume that the Dimorphodon marconyx laid eggs and also from fossil found in Germany of psteosaurs indicate that theses species had fast development in which they could fly away and take care of themselves. This aspect makes them unique because birds born today are helpless state for long period of time in comparison.

This species had the ability to walk on all fours. Also the cranium was developed in areas of spatial awareness and balance indicating the possibility of flight.

Tiger skins like this one dominate seizures in India and Nepal and are relatively frequent in China, Russia and Indonesia, according to the wildlife monitoring group TRAFFIC.

Body parts from more than 1,000 wild tigers have been seized over the past decade, crimes that are adding to the extinction crisis faced by the species whose numbers are estimated at around just 3,200 worldwide, a wildlife monitoring network reported Tuesday.

"Parts of between 1,069 and 1,220 tigers were seized in 11 of the 13 tiger range countries — or an average of 104 to 119 animals per year," TRAFFIC said in a report ahead of an international meeting later this month to protect the species.

India was highest on the list, followed by China and Nepal.

"Given half the world’s tigers live in India, it’s no real surprise the country has the highest number of seizures," report author Pauline Verheij said in a statement.
"With parts of potentially more than 100 wild Tigers actually seized each year," she added, "one can only speculate what the true numbers of animals are being plundered."

Parts of at least 1,000 tigers were seized in 11 range countries over the last decade.

Tiger smuggling ranges from from complete skins, skeletons and even whole animals — live and dead — to bones, meat, claws, teeth, skulls, penises and other body parts, TRAFFIC said.
The parts are used by various cultures for decoration, in traditional medicines and even as good luck charms.

"Clearly enforcement efforts to date are either ineffective or an insufficient deterrent," stated Mike Baltzer, leader of WWF’s Tigers Alive initiative.

Supplies

Styrofoam Pumpkin
Candle
Drill
Hole Saw Attachment for drill (found at hardware stores)
Craft Glue
Glitter

Instructions

Determine the width of the candle and make sure the hole saw is just slightly larger. Remove the stem and locate the center on top of the pumpkin. With the pumpkin firmly secure, center the hole cutting attachment above the pumpkin and slowly drill out the center. It may help to have someone hold the pumpkin steady while you drill. Once center is cut, you’ll need to carve out the foam with a knife. Continue the process until you have desired depth.

Once the hole is cut, coat entire pumpkin in craft glue. Generously cover with colored glitter and let dry. Once glitter is dry and to prevent glitter from flaking off, spray with a bit of hairspray to set.

Use non-drip candles (typically the wide candles don’t) or if you’re using tea-lights, opt for ones that have a plastic or metal cup so that wax doesn’t get into pumpkin. Place candle inside and light!

Green cleaners- going natural in your home

I decided this week to learn more about some green cleaning tips. Theses are just some of the things i discovered online:
- White vinegar-use on glass, counter tops and tile. Mix with water!
- Baking Soda- all-purpose cleaner (sinks, tubs, deodorizer). Mix with water.

- Salt-use as an abusive cleaner on pots and pans

- Lemon Juice- use for bleach in laundry and on kitchen surfaces.
-Olive Oil- furniture polish

(other ingredients — like borax, ammonia, club soda, isopropyl alcohol and toothpaste — that should make up part of your "greener cleaner" toolkit)

Try these mixtures:

To clear your drains Pour 125 ml of baking soda down the sink and add at least a cup of vinegar. Put the cover on the drain and wait a few minutes. Finish by rinsing through with a mixture of boiling water and salt.
To clean your oven Make a paste of baking soda and water. First, scratch off burnt spots with a scouring brush and then apply the paste and scrub.
To clean your windows and other glass You have two options: for every litre of water, add 75 ml of vinegar into a spray bottle. Or try club soda. Be sure to use a lint-free cloth to wipe up.
To clean your toilet bowl Sprinkle baking soda around the inside of the toilet bowl and scrub with toilet brush. Add some white vinegar into the bowl and let sit for a few minutes before cleaning with the brush.
To clean your bathtub and surrounding tilesMix 400 ml baking soda, 125 ml liquid soap, 125 ml water and a few spoonfuls of vinegar. Apply, scrub and wipe. Got mildew? Try vinegar and salt.
Cleaning up in the kitchen Use baking soda on non-scratch surfaces and the vinegar and water mixture on all others.
Cleaning your microwave oven Mix 30 ml of baking soda or lemon juice and 250 ml water in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for five minutes or until the liquid boils and condensation builds up inside the microwave. Wipe down.
Polishing your silver Put a sheet of aluminum foil into a plastic or glass bowl. Sprinkle the foil with salt and baking soda and fill bowl with warm water. Soak your silver in the bowl. The tarnish will migrate to the foil. Dry and buff.
Cleaning brass Cut a lemon in half, sprinkle it with salt and rub the lemon on the metal. Buff with a cloth.
Cleaning your copper Make a paste with equal parts white vinegar, flour and salt. Rub it onto your copper, leave it on for an hour and then buff with a cloth.
Cleaning your chrome surfaces Try toothpaste.
All-purpose cleaner In a spray bottle, combine five ml borax, 2.5 ml baking soda, 30 ml lemon juice and 250 ml of hot water.
Cleaning your wood floors Mix 125 ml white vinegar and 125 ml vegetable or olive oil in a spray bottle.
Furniture Polish In a spray bottle mix 250 ml vegetable or olive oil and 125 ml of lemon juice. Shake well and apply a small amount to a cloth.
Multi-purpose deep cleaner Mix 250 ml household ammonia, 125 ml white vinegar, 62.5 ml baking soda and four litres of warm water.

Also some key things to note:
- do not mix bleach and ammonia. These two chemicals create reactions in which it releases chlorine gas which was a chemical weapon in WWI. And if there more bleach then ammonia you could expose yourself to nitrogen trichloride which is toxic and explosive.

- common cleaners contain alcohol, ammonia, bleach, formaldehyde and lye — substances that can cause nausea, vomiting, and inflammation and burning of the eyes and throat.

- Environmentalists have linked these ingredients with asthma, cancer and damage to the neurological system, liver and kidney.

Some interesting features of the this species of dinosaur is its morphological features such as their long , forward-curving snout horn, two large bony-horns on its neck frill and bony ridges over its eyes. Einiosaurs were herbivores and were similar to T.Rex in herding styles. So far to date in the fossil record researchers have only found 3 skulls of this species. Some general facts about this species are :

10. The Biggest Bargains Aren't Where You Think

To make the most of dining out, smart diners learn the art of reading a menu. Menus often start with a higher priced item. Why? When the first item that you see is a $35 surf-and-turf, your expectations about the amount you need to pay for dinner increase. Suddenly, the $22 trout amandine doesn't seem all that unreasonable.

Sometimes the items that are the most profitable for the restaurant are listed first or starred as a "house specialty" to catch your eye. The items with the highest serving costs and lower profit margins are buried in the middle. Savvy pricing creates the illusion of a value: a chicken dish priced at $15 may look like a bargain compared to the $25 prime rib, but the profit margins are actually much higher on the chicken pasta than the pricier beef, since the chicken used to make the pasta dish is a lot less expensive.

So, some of the best deals are actually the most expensive dishes on the menu, when it costs the restaurant more of the menu price to prepare it.

9. Be Careful if You're Counting Calories

This may be the safest way to eat healthily at a restaurant.Another trick to be aware of is that many restaurants rely on butter and other high calorie or unhealthy garnishes to make food taste good. Even lighter dishes like salmon or halibut can be laden with butter or extra salt. Mashed potatoes and pasta or rice pilaf side dishes may taste delicious, but they may be loaded with extra cream or butter.

According to the American Dietetic Association (ADA), restaurant meals average 1,000 to 1,500 calories, or roughly two-thirds of the daily average recommended by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) [source: Bockelman]. Buying asparagus in season may mean the vegetable goes on the menu as a side dish, an appetizer, a salad topper, or a soup.

So how can you identify a special that's really just the chef's way of using up leftovers? Look for an expensive item, such as lamb or duck, used in a way that minimizes its flavor. Pastas, stews, and soups are often suspect. Remember, sauces and gravies have helped cover up cook's mistakes for centuries.

7. Bad Behavior Behind the Scenes

Waiters and waitresses work stressful jobs in conditions that can be less than ideal, so it's important to recognize that some shenanigans can go on in the kitchen.

He offers some startling insights about what may happen to those who misbehave in a restaurant. Some restaurants avoid filling the water glass altogether, hoping the thirsty consumer will order pricier beverages or alcoholic drinks instead. The average mark-up on tea is about 4,440 percent, and a glass of soda costs the restaurant only about ten cents

4. The Bread and Vegetables Cost Extra

Entrées used to come with bread and vegetables, but that isn't always a given today. In the past, restaurants figured extras like bread into their prices.

Now, many restaurants have taken advantage of the low carbohydrate trend by making bread available only when a customer asks -- and you may be charged for it.

Vegetables are also commonly appearing on menus as side items that must be ordered a la carte. At $6, an order of broccoli or a baked potato may sound like a small addition to your meal, but it probably only costs the restaurant about $1.50 or less

3. Made Fresh Daily? Not Necessarily

Time is money -- even in the restaurant business. Restaurants always do their best to improve efficiencies and save time in the kitchen. Professional chefs have learned to take advantages of clever shortcuts and conveniences to make the most of the little time they have.

This means the fresh ranch dressing may be made every three days instead of daily. The homemade coconut pie you order may not be made on the premises, but delivered from a bakery on the other side of town. Mom's homemade relish may actually come from a jar purchased from a food service company. And that delicious French bread you smell baking in the oven? Purchased frozen from a specialty baker in California.

These time- and cost-saving practices aren't necessarily bad, but don't be afraid to comment on anything that doesn't smell quite right, or has a questionable consistency.

2. Restaurants Overbook, Too

Airlines aren't the only service businesses prone to overbooking. According to John Fischer, associate professor of table service at the Culinary Institute of America, "Overbooking is almost a necessary evil." Restaurants calculate their customary no-show percentage and overbook by that much, hoping everything comes out even [source: Bockelman].

So what should you do if you've called ahead and made a reservation for Aunt Polly's birthday, then find yourself waiting once your group arrives? Politely ask after about 15 minutes, and if you don't like the response you get, go someplace else.

Many people find themselves in restaurants often due to busy schedules or business dinners, but when is the best time to plan a special, relaxing meal out? Don't choose Sunday or Monday night when the food probably isn't as fresh as it would be earlier in the weekend. Marshmallow Fudge Sundae Cupcakes

INGREDIENTS

1 package (18-1/4 ounces) chocolate cake mix, plus ingredients to prepare mix

2 packages (4 ounces each) waffle bowls

40 marshmallows

1 jar (8 ounces) hot fudge topping

1‑1/4 cups whipped topping

1/4 cup colored sprinkles

1 jar (10 ounces) maraschino cherries

PREPARATION:

Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly spray 20 standard (2-1/2-inch) muffin pan cups with nonstick cooking spray.

Prepare cake mix according to package directions. Spoon batter into prepared cups, filling 2/3 full.

Bake about 20 minutes or until toothpicks inserted into centers come out clean. Cool in pans on wire racks about 10 minutes.

Remove cupcakes from pans and place one cupcake in each waffle bowl. Place waffle bowls on baking sheets. Top each cupcake with 2 marshmallows and return to oven for 2 minutes or until marshmallows are slightly softened.

Remove lid from fudge topping; heat in microwave on HIGH 10 seconds or until softened. Spoon 2 teaspoons fudge topping over each cupcake. Top with 1 tablespoon whipped topping, sprinkles and cherry.

Sinosauropteryx prima

Sinosauropteryx means "Chinese Reptilian Wing" and is one of the most primtive genus of dinosaurs found with impressions of feathers. This dinosaur lived in the late Jurassic period to early Cretaceous period (121-135 million years ago). Sinosauropteryx prima was found in 1996 in Sihetun, Liaoning Province, China, in an ancient lake bed. Sinosauropteryx is the earliest bird-like dinosaur.

Sinosauropteryx is the first dinosaur fossil ever found that showed evidence of having feathers. This fossils was not a bird because could not fly; its feathers were probably used for insulation, keeping the dinosaur warm.

Description

- it length is 68 cm (2.2ft), largest ever found measured 98cm (3ft)
- it has a long tail
- some distinguishable features include having a skull longer than upper leg bone ( femur), very short forelimbs (30% length of legs)
-bipedal and carnivorous
- had 64 vertebrae in it tail
- large fingers with its second finger and claw being longer than the etire lower arm in radius
- weighed about 5.5 pounds (2.5 kg).
- the longest feather-filaments were 1.5 inches long (3.8 cm)
- Each egg measured 36 millimeters (1.4 inch) long by 26 mm (1 in) wide. The total length of this individual was 1.07 m (3.5 ft).
-Three complete skeletons of Sinosauropteryx have been found, including trace fossils of small fibers (protofeathers), stomach contents, unlaid eggs, and some internal organs.
-The existence of Sinosauropteryx lends credence to the theory that the birds are descended from theropod dinosaurs and not from four-legged arboreal (tree living) reptiles.
- a specimen labeled NIGP 127587 had remains of lizard in its stomach which shows that Sinosauropteryx prima preyed on fast moving creatures

- another sample GMV 2124 (Sinosauropteryx? sp.) found three mammal jaws in its stomach region which two of these jaws belong to Zhangheotherium and the third to Sinobaatar. Zhangheotherium is known to have had a venom-secreting spur, like the modern platypus, which indicated that Sinosauropteryx prima eat venomous mammals

Timeline :
Archaeopteryx - The oldest known bird (150 mya) had asymmetrical feathers - it could probably fly short distances (from Germany).

Sinosauropteryx - covered with proto-feathers and with short arms (121-135 million years ago).

Protarchaeopteryx - Long, symmetrical feathers on arms and tail, but it probably could not fly (from China, 121-135 mya).

Caudipteryx - a small, very fast runner covered with primitive (symmetrical and therefore flightless) feathers. (from China, 121-135 mya)

Unenlagia - a much larger ground-dwelling theropod (from Argentina). It had flexible arm movement (up and down, like that of a bird) (90 mya).

Velociraptor - a larger, ground-dwelling carnivore from Mongolia) with a swiveling wrist bone (this type of joint is also found in birds and is necessary for flight) (85 - 80 mya).

Eoalulavis (from Spain) - the earliest bird that had good maneuverability while flying, even at low speeds (this extra flight control is obtained from a tuft of feathers on the thumb called the alula - it also helps in takeoffs and landings).
